1. Oversees the hiring/termination of sterile Processing staff. Completes performance appraisals for staff. Oversee and coordinate staff training to ensure adequate skill levels within department. Initiates disciplinary actions and work plan as needed. Resolves work related issues such as performance, interpersonal conflicts, workload, and scheduling. Uses discretion in discussion related to staffing or personal concerns. Promotes professional development and contributes to the professional growth of others.
2.Assist & Support Director of SPD & Supporting Services in the planning, growth and expansion of department to include new techniques and technologies. Works collaboratively with Director and other Supervisors to create a united management team for future goals and the day to day operational function.
3.Facilitates departmental in-services and assistswith training and coaching of employees. Encourages successful team development by actively involving staff in planning, decision-making and solving team conflicts.
4.Takes appropriate action with established budgets & help manage the Daily Work Load Drivers. Maintains efficient operation of the department staying within financial parameters.
5. Assures maintenance of sterilization and related records to comply with regulatory requirements. Provides clinical expertise in sterilization and related issues for OHSU.
6.Demonstrates critical thinking skills in problem solving and decision-making. Demonstrates confidentiality regarding patient and co-worker information according to the OHSU Code of Conduct and Human Resource policies and procedures.
7.Takes rotational Administrative call for sterile processing department. Performs the work of staff as needed. Reviews and updates policies and procedures for compliance with OHSU.
8.Oversees various personnel actions including, but not limited to, contract interpretations, hiring, performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, terminations and other related activities .Ensures the orientation, ongoing training, professional development, and competence of unit staff. Oversees the provision of care and monitors the staff compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.Adheres to OHSU rules, regulations and contract agreements.Contributes to the formulation of patient care, administrative policies and procedures.Communicates plans and decisions to unit staff.Provides for linkages between staff and administration ensuring the flow of accurate and timely information.Collaborates and reviews the annual competencies for each type of staff on selected areas within a division so that role performance is continually maintained / improved at highest level.Maintains personal and professional growth and the professional development of staff by participating in educational programs and professional organizations.Partners with medical staff and other disciplines in the establishment of patient care goals.Serves as a professional role model and mentor to staff by responding positively to change while supporting colleagues throughout the change process.
High School Diploma/GED
Graduation accredited SPD Tech program or Surgical Technology program; orSPD/Surgical Tech certification.
3 years of certified SPD Tech or Surgical Tech experience with 1 year experience leading or supervising a team.
