Reposted Responsibilities The Child Life Fellow is responsible for supporting infants, children, teens and family members in the inpatient hospital setting primarily in Pediatrics and the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Will provide developmentally appropriate play and distraction activities, self -expression and coping strategies, preparation for medical procedures/surgery, and emotional support to reduce stress, increase coping and enhance developmental growth. May also provide procedural and surgical accompaniment for support. Required Qualifications
Minimum of a bachelor's degree in Child Development, Child Life, Psychology, Therapeutic Recreation or another closely related field
Knowledge of child growth and development; Child Life theory and how to apply theory to practice
Understand medical terminology, diagnosis and procedures
Knowledge of basic charting to include initial assessment, goals and intervention (SOAP format)
A CHILD LIFE FELLOW IS NOT YET CERTIFIED AS A CHILD LIFE SPECIALIST AND RECEIVES DIRECTION FROM THE CHILD LIFE MANAGER AND OTHER CERTIFIED LIFE SPECIALIST STAFF
Must have completed and have record of the minimum 480 Child Life Internship hours
Must have 2 letters of reference, at least one from the past Child Life Internship supervisor
Must not have Child Life Certification from the Child Life Certifying Committee but must be eligible to take the exam
This position may be subject to a criminal background investigation, drug screen, Live Scan fingerprinting, medical evaluation clearance, and functional capacity assessment.
