Position Summary: Incumbent works cooperatively with the manager, Cancer Committee Quality Coordinator, and departmental staff to assist in the implementation of the Cancer Registry Quality Control Plan and Cancer Registry Policy and Procedures. Incumbent ensures the data quality/ integrity and data control methods are enforced, consistently maintained and evaluated for accuracy regarding malignant and benign processes for the cancer database (CNExT) pursuant to the established standards.

Required Qualifications: Ability to assess and interpret clinical source documents (i.e. pathology reports, operative reports, discharge summaries, clinic notes, chemotherapy records, radiation therapy reports, etc.) and apply appropriate coding rulesAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the HealthSystemAbility to identify and correct TNM staging results as documented by abstractorsAbility to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workloadExcellent written and verbal communication skills in EnglishExperience using personal computers, particularly with data entryKnowledge of anatomy and physiology, disease process and medical terminologyKnowledge of coding guidelines and requirements for utilization of SEER dataMinimum 7 years' cancer registry abstracting experience in a hospital settingMust demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the jobMust possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned dutiesRequired Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) certification by the National Cancer Registrars AssociationWorking knowledge of the Cancer Program Standards of American College of Surgeons Commission on CancerWorking knowledge of the following coding systems and manuals: Collaborative Staging, AJCC Cancer Staging, SEER Summary Staging, ICD-O Coding, Facility Oncology Registry Data Standards (FORDS), California Cancer Registry (CCR) Reporting Manual, Multiple Primary and Histology Coding Rules, and the Hematopoietic Manual and Database
