Extended Learning (UWLEX) at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse is seeking an Interim Assistant Director. This position reports to the Director in Extended Learning and is responsible for collaborating with faculty, staff, and administrators at UW-La Crosse and throughout the UW-System as well as business leaders and community organizations to identify opportunities for joint collaboration in the strategic development, recruitment, retention, growth, management and evaluation of non-credit programs. This position is responsible for supervising staff and is responsible for managing the recruitment and development of new programs and initiatives and the enhancement of repeat non-credit programs. This is a full-time one-year limited term appointment from approximately January 22, 2020-January 22, 2021.
Major responsibilities include Identifying, recruiting and managing new non-credit business including custom training and large conferences. This position is responsible for generating and meeting an individual revenue target. This position provides leadership, supervision and strategic direction for a team of non-credit program managers and their respective programming and leads them to generate and meet their respective individual program revenue targets. Reviews finances, develops budgets, evaluates business, develops strategies, and reports sales metrics. Participates in some travel.
Bachelor’s Degree in business, sales management, hospitality or related field with a minimum of 5 years of work related experience
Preference will be given to applicants with the following qualifications:
Master’s degree preferred in business, sales management or related field
Advanced budgeting skills including the creation, development, management and reconciliation thereof
Computer knowledge including: Microsoft Office, advanced Excel skills, experience utilizing a client relationship management (CRM) system
Proven sales supervision experience and success in achieving or exceeding revenue goals
Proven track record of maintaining, developing, nurturing and recruiting clients
Problem solving skills and attention to detail
Knowledge of the La Crosse community and evidence of successful collaborations within the community
Proven negotiation skills
Program management experience
Proven communication (both written and spoken) skills, public speaking and presentation experience
Problem solving skills and attention to detail
