The Cancer Center, at the University of Virginia School of Medicine, is seeking a Community Outreach and Engagement Specialist. This position will work in conjunction with the staff, faculty and the community to support efforts related to community outreach and engagement and research. This includes establishing, maintaining, and cultivating positive long-term relationships with community partners, coordinating and implementing community education and screening program, and assisting with the coordination of research projects.
A bachelorâ™s degree is required, preferably in public health or a related field. An advanced degree is typical. A minimum of four yearsâ™ experience in outreach and engagement is required with a bachelorâ™s degree, two years of experience with an advanced degree. Prior experience coordinating community events, data collection, and project management is essential. Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills are also essentials. This individual must be a self-starter, team player, and effective communicator who is willing to tackle other duties as assigned and ensure the overall success and sustainability of UVA Cancer Center community outreach and engagement activities.
This position is based in Wise, VA. Moderate travel throughout Southwest Virginia is required.
This is a restricted position. Continuation of this position is contingent upon the availability of the position, funding, and satisfactory performance.
