Reporting to the Senior Associate Director of Stewardship and Donor Engagement, the Assistant/Associate Director of Stewardship and Donor Engagement will contribute to the strategic management of the University's relationship with many of its top donors. The work of the Assistant/Associate Director will help to ensure a cohesive, collaborative approach to these relationships with donors. Primary to this role is ensuring that the donor remains apprised of the positive impact that his/her gift has at Boston College and increasing the possibility of subsequent, significant gifts.
The Assistant/Associate Director will be responsible for the annual scholarship impact reporting cycle including: project management; timeline and deadline management; editing, proofing and design of content; survey and template layout; coordinating with outside vendors; and data management. The Assistant/Associate Director will coordinate the Endowed Scholars Program, maintain the Endowed Scholar website, and will oversee the assignment of and outreach to scholarship recipients assigned to endowed and current-use scholarship funds. Additionally, he/she will participate in scholarship stewardship events, develop recipient touchpoints for scholarship donors, and collaborate with the Stewardship Operations Assistant on processes for data input and maintenance.
The Assistant/Associate Director, along with the Senior Associate Director, will also be responsible for coordinating with School Development partners on Stewardship and Donor Engagement initiatives within assigned schools.
Title and salary commensurate with relevant experience based on the following titles and hiring ranges:
First Level Assistant Director: $46,550 - $58,200; 1-3 years related exp. Second Level Assistant Director: $56,700 - $70,900; 3-5 years professional exp. Associate Director: 62,650 - $78,300; 5-7 yrs. exempt
This position requires a Bachelor's degree, and for the Assistant Director Level 1, 1-3 years related experience; for the Assistant Director Level 2, 3-5 years professional experience; for the Associate Director level, 5-7 years professional experience. All levels require experience working in a complex fundraising operation, preferably within a higher education setting in a capital campaign environment.
Competitive candidates will possess a demonstrated understanding of core fundraising programs and strategies including knowledge of the process and practices for receiving major gifts, in general, knowledge of cultivation and stewardship vehicles, including some knowledge of donor fund accounting and scholarship administration, in particular, and possess the ability to build and sustain stewarding information and services to help advance the fundraising work of the organization. The position requires a working knowledge of project management processes, web-based platforms/communications, including survey creation, email merges, etc. An understanding of the University's mission and the role it plays in advancing donor relations is also required.
The ideal candidate is self-motivated, resourceful and strategic, and is highly engaged in working collaboratively with a team. The candidate anticipates opportunities and possesses a high level of follow through on opportunities and projects. Experience with project management and the implementation of elements of complex projects is desired. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written and oral communication, and technical skills are essential. The candidate should exhibit discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential donor and student information. Candidate exudes a professional demeanor when dealing with colleagues, donors and students. Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite and Google platform, and an understanding of Adobe Suite and InDesign software. Familiarity with project management tools and Millennium, Blackbaud or other fundraising databases is preferred. Must be a team player who is highly motivated and dedicated to the goals of advancing higher education and have an appreciation for Jesuit Catholic education and the goals and values of Boston College.
