Recruit and enroll children and families in the community and on campus for the Head Start program In conjunction with the Head Start lead teachers, arrange and conduct parent orientations Provide appropriate counseling or referral, emergency assistance, crisis intervention; assist inaccessing health care systems, dental providers, nutritional referrals and mental health referrals Coordinate and facilitate parent/family involvement component for all center families Conduct training sessions for families on parenting skills, child growth and development, health,safety and nutrition education Gather and provide to all parents updated information on community resources and how to use them Perform other duties as assigned
Associate degree in human services, health or early childhood education field AND two years' experience in the social work field serving low income families. Or equivalent relevant education and/or experience. Knowledge of Head Start standards Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook Effective oral and written communication skills.Ability to work effectively with culturally diverse individuals and groups
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor degree in human services, health or early childhood education field plus one-year experience workingwith low income families Ability to identify family strengths and plan/advocate around family goals. Ability to buildrelationships with community services Ability to work as a team member Skills in conflict resolution, organize and manage multiple projects. Skills in training adults Skills in working respectfully with children, families, and staff members having a variety ofstyles, personalities, and needs Ability to set priorities and use good judgment. Ability to work independently and take initiative
SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS: Have or obtain within 90 days of hiring, current infant/child CPR; Basic First Aid; & Blood Borne Pathogen/HIV training and provide documentation Proof of physical exam, including TB skin test, and MMR immunity on file. Knowledge and ability to meet minimum licensing requirements for WA Dept of Early Learning (DEL). Ability to safely supervise groups of children and their activities by standing, walking, reaching, sitting (on floor, small chairs, &/or outdoors), frequent stooping, and lifting up to 40 pounds.
