Job Description Summary: The Communications Specialist serves as a liaison between the Global Marketing and Communications unit and one of its major internal clients, the Office of Advancement. The specialist manages a variety of multimedia products, primarily print, digital, and social media communications projects to advance the mission of Webster University.
Minimum Qualifications Three to five years of professional communications experience. Must have experience as a copywriter and as a project manager. Bachelors degree required in communications or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications Five to seven years of professional communications experience.
Essential Duties ?Serves as a project manager for requests from the Office of Advancement and other departments that further the mission of Webster University.
Creates targeted omnichannel communications campaigns for major alumni engagement and donor solicitation projects, including but not limited to: Alumni Weekend; Giving Tuesday; Give STL Day; and the Gorlok Open Golf Tournament.
Implements and executes the writing, editing, design, production, and distribution for a variety of printed materials and digital media, including but not limited to: brochures, fact sheets, donor reports, solicitation materials, invitations, programs, scripts, digital newsletters, emails and social media posts.
Coordinates a content calendar for Alumni Relations social media accounts and the Alumni Relations electronic newsletter.
Coordinates a content calendar for a donor stewardship electronic newsletter.
Assists with content editing and distribution of alumni- and donor-focused emails and electronic newsletters.
Acts as a brand steward, upholding brand standards and consistency in all projects.
Acts as proofing editor to ensure readability and to detect and correct errors on spelling, punctuation and syntax.
Coordinates collaborations with department and university staff to gather stories and conduct interviews as needed.
