Department Description The UC Davis Radiation Oncology department provides sophisticated radiation therapy services and clinical care. Our radiation oncologists subspecialize in different tumor types and use state-of-the-art technology to provide compassionate care to patients. In particular, the UC Davis Radiation Oncology department is recognized as a national leader in advanced technology and treatments using IMRT, IGRT and 3-D conformal radiation therapy for many types of cancers. THIS IS NOT AN H1- B OPPORTUNITY ResponsibilitiesThis position manages clinical research and related quality assurance operations for the combined research units of the Radiation Oncology and Radiology Departments and PET EXPLORER, Explorer Molecular Imaging Center (EMIC). Responsibilities include coordinating research projects, ensuring alignment of short-and long-term departmental initiatives and goals, overseeing all clinical trial and managing personnel, quality, regulatory compliance and audits. Coordinates and directs the overall administration and outcomes of multiple clinical studies, including training all staff and interacting with sponsors, principal investigators, UC Davis Health Compliance Office, UC Davis Health Institutional Review Board (IRB), the UC Davis Clinical and Translational Science Center (CTSC), the Food and Drug Administration and other regulatory entities as appropriate. Designs and implements policies and procedures to assure that the program is in compliance with local, state and federal requirements. Supervises research staff responsible for the implementation of research projects including patient enrollment, data collection and management as well as assists investigators with scientific writing for abstracts and peer-reviewed manuscript submissions. Required Qualifications
Society of Clinical Research Association - CCRP certification.
Extensive experience with clinical trials management specifically in a university or healthcare environment.
Leadership and/or experience including short- and long-range planning to support program sustainability.
Broad knowledge of clinical research concepts, federal, state, and local laws and regulations, and industry requirements regarding the proper conduct of
clinical trials: e.g., IRB, Compliance, CTSC.
Broad theoretical and operational knowledge of clinical and patient safety standards and regulations relating to clinical research.
Broad knowledge of all phases of clinical research, from study startup through closeout and primary publication and presentation.
Experience working with research subjects and the clinical trial process (consent, deviations, CAPAs).
Advanced knowledge of medical terminology, abbreviations and the ability to abstract information from various sources including electronic medical
Strong communicator; including verbal and written communication, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising and counseling skills
Strong analytic skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
Experience working collaboratively with other teams and people with a wide range of educational backgrounds.
Master's degree in healthcare administration or related field preferred.
Clinical trials experience in oncology preferred.
In-depth ability to use UC Davis Health on-line systems and databases, such as UC Path, Kauli, EPIC and MOSAIQ, AggieBudget and AggieTravel.
Knowledge of UC Davis Health policies and procedures pertaining to administration, payroll, billing grids, standard of care, and personnel.
Occasional overtime is required to meet deadlines. Use of vacation may be restricted during peak times.
