Essential Job Duties:
The candidate will develop innovative approaches toward characterization of next generation biotherapeutics (e.g. gene therapy viral vectors) using mass spectrometry (MS).
This will include optimization of enzymatic protein digestion and analysis via ultra-high performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC) – tandem mass spectrometry. The successful candidate will use state-of-the-art high resolution mass spectrometers to quantify post-translational modifications (PTMs). This work will be conducted at a collaborator lab in Rockville, MD.
He/she will be expected to work within a network of internal and external collaborators, engage stakeholders and display the potential to become a recognized leader in the field.
Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate (e.g., M.D., D.V.M., Sc.D.) in appropriate field awarded no more than five (5) years from initial date of postdoctoral appointment.
Ph.D. or equivalent in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field awarded no more than five (5) years from initial date of postdoctoral appointment.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as a team member.
Knowledge of laboratory safety and biosafety practices.
One (1) or more years experience in mass spectrometry is a requirement. Candidates with experience utilizing mass spectrometry for proteomics, glycomics, and/or protein characterization preferred.
