Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Staff Nurse for the Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences Institute (EOHSI). In accordance with professional nursing standards, the Staff Nurse skillfully administers total patient care based on the individualized needs of patients and employees seen at EOHSI Clinical Center.
Evaluates and triages the health status of patients and employees. Makes referrals for occupational and non-occupational health/injury concerns of the employee population.
Responds to emergency situations for employees/visitors on the Piscataway campus.
Documents history and physical assessment for assigned patients. Maintains patients medical records and rights to privacy under HIPAA guidelines.
Maintains safe and healthy work environment through planning and implementation of various assurance programs: Tuberculosis screenings, Hearing Conservation, Immunizations, Respirator/Asbestos screenings.
Performs physicals under the direction of the attending physician for screening research participants to partake in research studies.
Handles clinical operations to include maintaining clinical supplies, equipment, and staffing needs as designated by the Manager.
Acts as liaison with Risk & Claims on work related injuries, chemical and bloodborne pathogen exposures and needle stick incidents.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a license to practice in the State of New Jersey. (Active and in Good Standing).
Current CPR certification.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Two (2) years of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), Electronic Medical Records (EMR), operating of Spirometer, EKG and Audiogram
Three (3) years of Occupational Health experience preferred.
Completion of NIOSH approved courses in Spirometry and Occupational Health Conservation preferred.
ACLS certification desired.
Salary: Commensurate with experience.
