This position is responsible for installing new and/or modifying the existing UNCCCTV systems, One Card Access System, biometric access readers and security alarm systems. When issued, this position is responsible for completing assigned Service Orders (SO's). When assigned this position is also responsible for performing Preventative Maintenance (PM) inspections. This position is also responsible for providing technical support to new technicians/personnel assigned to the Access Control Shop.
Education and Experience:
Associate’s degree in electronics; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Ability to troubleshoot non-standard electronic devices for which documentation is incomplete or not available. In-depth knowledge and experience in programming, servicing, and repairing card access system, security alarms and CCTV. In-depth knowledge, experience and application of various codes and standards, such as but not limited to NC Department of Insurance requirements for access control systems and ADA requirements.
This position provides focused support for Bio-Safety Level (BSL) 2+ and 3 labs. This requires a baseline blood draw, a physical and inoculations. Entry into hot labs with an Environment, Health & Safety escort will be required, which requires wearing respiratory protection, as well as annual medical certification, fit testing, and training. Other general safety and technical training will be provided. Rotational emergency call back duty directly supporting BSL 2+/3 is required. The person in this position will also provide oversight to other trades supporting these labs as well.
Ability to serve as a mandatory employee and report to work in support of mandatory University operations, even when adverse weather or other emergency conditions require the University to close.
Graduation from a technical school or community college with a two-year degree in electronics and one year of experience in the repair and maintenance of a variety of electronic devices or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
