The George Mason University, Department of Economics is seeking an Undergraduate Coordinator to provide academic support to undergraduate students in the economics program and to also expand recruitment of students into the program, promote retention among students and facilitate career placement of undergraduates. The Undergraduate Coordinator reports to the Undergraduate Director and will work with the Undergraduate Director on undergraduate academic advising and student retention, undergraduate recruitment, and undergraduate career placement and academic awards. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Provide general and major-specific academic advising;
Run orientation sessions for new freshman and transfer students;
Provide content for the department's website and expand the program's social media presence;
Participate in student recruitment events (may involve evenings and weekends);
Design promotional material and outreach initiatives;
Provide career advice and assist with internship searches.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience;
Organized and ability to multi-task;
Promptness with documenting activities and submitting paperwork;
Ability to work with diverse constituencies;
Ability to work well with others as part of a team.
Bachelor/Master's Degree in economics or a related field;
Experience in the areas of admissions/student recruitment or career services;
Experience with newsletters, website design, and/or social media.
Salary: Commensurate with education and experience.
