This position is in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. The position is located at the Mid Campus Center. This position is for the Medical School Campus.
Plans and executes the marketing, public relations, and communication programs to support the clinical, research, and education missions of the Department.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Works with Department, University, and Hospital leadership to identify key program objectives and to develop marketing strategies to support the ongoing clinical, research, and education missions for orthopedic surgery.
Develops and executes strategic marketing plan in order to achieve national recognition and an improved reputation ranking among comparable academic orthopedic surgery programs.
Works closely with University and Hospital to insure consistency of strategic and tactical promotional efforts and to leverage resources of both institutions to advance mutual goals.
Designs and executes tactical marketing programs to improve regional reputation among referring physicians, patients, and the community in order to promote orthopedic health awareness and to build clinical practice and hospital market share.
Oversees department web design and implementation to support strategic and tactical marketing plans; insures “best practices” in use of technology to reach target audiences and to maximize visibility and functionality of web site.
Negotiates contracts and manages relationships with web service providers, outside vendors, and IT staff to develop solutions to support web service and other marketing related initiatives.
Makes media purchase decisions and manages ongoing marketing and public relations programs with internal and external media sources.
Develops design and content for promotional campaigns, marketing literature, academic publications, etc.; coordinates work with contract writers, University and Hospital public relations, vendors, direct mail distributors, etc.
Provides coordination and marketing support for Department special events.
Responsible for planning, budgeting, and management of assigned cost centers.
Equivalent of a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Communications or related field.
5+ years of related experience.
2 years of healthcare service marketing experience, preferably in non-profit sector.
Demonstrated experience in web based design and marketing.
Experience with purchased and earned media campaigns.
Participation in professional marketing associations preferred.
Able to exercise discretion and independent judgment effectively in decision-making processes and planning.
Excellent oral and written skills, communicates in a professional and effective manner.
Able to maintain a professional demeanor with faculty, administrative and clerical personnel as well as with physicians and contacts at other institutions.
Ability to exercise diplomacy is essential.
Able to gather and analyze information in a proficient and creative manner.
Literate in personal computers, related software, web-based technology, and marketing performance measurement analytics.
The hiring range for this position is $56,472 - $73,403 annually.
