The School of Health Sciences invites applications for two nine-month, fixed-term non-tenure-track assistant professor positions in the Health Sciences Program with expertise and interest in public health, including but not limited to behavioral health, social determinants of health, health policy, environmental health, and/or epidemiology. Responsibilities for this position include: teaching undergraduate and graduate courses that support the Health Sciences curricula; advising and mentoring students in collaboration with the Advising Center; and providing meaningful service to the university, profession, and community. Salary and rank are commensurate with academic qualifications and experience.

The Health Sciences program is housed in the School of Health Sciences and supports a bachelor's degree in Integrated Health Sciences and a master's degree Health Sciences. The Integrated Health Sciences (IHS) Program is a 120-credit hour, residential, program designed for students who have a broad-based interest in the health field. This innovative and flexible program of study is intended to equally serve entry-level and transfer students. The IHS degree may also be an attractive option for students with associate degrees wanting to earn a 4-year bachelor's degree. The IHS Program's core courses focus on the Institute of Medicine's core competencies: patient centered care, interdisciplinary teams, evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and utilization of informatics. The IHS major has three concentrations – Pre-Professional, Management, and Health & Wellness – with the option to add additional concentrations to meet student and health workforce needs in an evolving health environment. The program is interdisciplinary, incorporating faculty expertise with courses from the College of Education and Allied Professions, College of Arts & Sciences, College of Business, and the College of Health & Human Sciences. There are three active concentrations currently; Health Education, Health Management, and Emergency Medical Science. This program is designed to prepare students to either move up their current organizational ranks or enter the health care industry. Approximately, 80% of the students enrolled are part-time working professionals who have families. The online environment is a cost effective graduate program designed to prepare students as educators or administrators in health care settings such as emergency medical systems, hospitals, public health departments, surgical or specialty practice centers, physician practices, and many other allied health areas. Specific duties and responsibilities include:
Support the vision and mission of Health Science programs, along with the School, College, and University.
Develop and deliver courses within the Health Sciences (IHS and MHS) on topics such as, but not limited to, Health Behavior, Introduction to Public Health, Social Determinants of Health, Epidemiology, Health Systems Management, Health Policy and Environmental Health
Mentor and advise students in collaboration with the Advising Center with regard to academic progress and professional development.
Provide service to the university, profession, and community.
Maintain currency in the academic discipline through continuing education, scholarship, and/or participation in activities within the profession, including involvement within professional organizations at the state, district and national levels.
Work cooperatively and collegially with all faculty and staff involved in the Health Sciences program, School of Health Sciences, and across the institution.
Carry out other assignments and duties as assigned by the Health Sciences Program Director, Director of the School of Health Sciences, and Dean of the College of Health and Human Sciences.
oDoctoral Degree in public health, health administration, health information, healthcare management, health services, or closely related field from a regionally accredited institution. oResearch or practice-based experience in public or community health, health policy, health care delivery, health systems management, evidence-based policy development, or closely related field. oPrior teaching experience in the public health or health sciences discipline.
oProfessional experience in health policy, including but not limited to health care delivery, health systems management, and evidence-based policy development. oDemonstrated commitment to student engagement and success. oDemonstrated success with student mentoring. oDemonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills. oEvidence of service to the profession and/or community. oCredentialing or certifications in health specific areas. oIn addition to a Doctoral degree, degrees in MHA, MSPH, MPH, MBA, or other health fields are favorable.
