The Director of College Testing Services manages the daily operations, services, and staff, and provides and supports the testing needs of the instructional programs. The Director works in collaboration with College faculty, staff and external partners to meet the needs of a variety of constituents by providing testing services and college readiness resources that comply with College policies and procedures, state and federal regulations, and the requirements of contracted testing services.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Supervises assigned area of responsibility and staff by recruiting and hiring, assigning and delegating tasks, providing direction, resolving work problems, communication job expectations, training employees, and developing professional growth opportunities.
Oversees centralized schedule of operations on Main Campus and Regional Learning Centers. Oversees test administration processes, and practices for the College at large, including academic; placement; vendor assessment and distance learning; computerized; and pencil and paper tests. Reviews and evaluates operation to support the community and the College's mission and goals. Designs, supports, and oversees a student-centered approach to testing programs and services. Researches and manages Testing Center Data. Reviews and develops testing services with faculty leads, chairs, and external partners.
Business Process Management
Responds to and meets the request of the Executive Dean of Advising and Student Services. Explores and provides best practices and forward thinking responses for improvements, as necessary. Reviews and targets areas within the operation for improvement. Collaborates and initiates domestic and global partnerships. Effectively communicates and includes Regional Learning Centers. Reviews needs and develops plan of action and collaborates with staff, faculty, College administration, and community leaders to implement processes.
Evaluates and assesses effectiveness of testing at the College to develop benchmarks for testing practices that are embedded within the academic departments across the Campus and Regional Learning Centers. Keeps accurate records. Completes and maintains required documentation, including test administration, performance and project status reports. Serve as subject matter expert in academic placement and college readiness on College, statewide, and other related committees.
Facilities and Fiscal
Develops and maintains a budget that correlates with the needs and cost of testing while being fiscally competent. Collaborates with IT and other departments, as necessary, to assure the proper maintenance, viability, and functionality of technologies needed to administer, report, and monitor testing services.

While performing duties of this job, the employee regularly exhibits digital dexterity when entering data into computer. The employee regularly stands and walks for extended periods of time, and occasionally sits. Employee converses verbally with others in person and by telephone. Employee occasionally reaches with hands or arms, climbs or balances and stoops, kneels, crouches or crawls. Vision demands include close, relatively detailed vision when focusing on a computer screen. Employee occasionally lifts or exerts force of up to 25 pounds when moving files, boxes and other materials.
Typical office environment. Regular exposure to moderate noise typical to business offices. Must travel to various Columbus State Community College campuses and sites.

Master's Degree in Higher Education, Business Management, or a closely related field of study related to job assignment and at least five years experience and demonstrated expertise in an assigned functional area, topical expertise, or possession of a certification in a relevant functional area, including supervision of others. An appropriate combination of education, training, coursework, and/or experience may qualify a candidate. State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s).

About Columbus State Community College
Columbus State Community College has been meeting the diverse educational needs of the Central Ohio community for more than 50 years. The college is proud to be an important contributor to the growth and progress of the region and to serve as the front door to higher education in Central Ohio. From the first graduating class in 1965 through this year, 50,000 students have earned associate degrees in 50-plus technical fields and academic transfer programs. Columbus State also offers Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degree programs whose coursework fulfills the freshman and sophomore year requirements for bachelor’s degree programs offered by four-year colleges and universities throughout the state. Specific transfer agreements with more than 40 colleges and universities are in place at Columbus State, and new direct-to degree partnership programs are being developed all the time. Columbus State now has two campuses serving Central Ohio educational needs. The Columbus Campus is located on 85 acres in downtown Columbus. The 108-acre, full-service Delaware Campus welcomed its first students in 2010. Additionally, Columbus State offers classes at nine convenient regional learning centers throughout Central Ohio.
