The primary function of faculty members in the School of Physician Assistant (PA) Studies is to provide high-quality education that meets the students' needs and fulfills the vision and mission of the Program and the University.Responsibilities:Responsibilities (and examples of those responsibilities) include:Participate in teaching: Direct/coordinate courses Provide and/or participate in lectures, laboratories, and experiential learning activities to didactic and clinical year students Assess student performance Provide remedial instruction as directedParticipate in program administration Interview and select applicants as directed Design, implement, coordinate, and evaluate the curriculum Participate in program evaluation and accreditationParticipate in scholarly activities Deliver scholarly presentations Publish posters and/or papers Participate in research activitiesParticipate in service activities Serve on committees Serve on regional, state, or national organization committees Volunteer activities Represent the PA program and University in/at community functions Attend School and institutional activities such as Commencement, White Coat and Awards ceremonies Support student activities such as health fairs and service projectsAdditional responsibilities may be assigned by the Program Director.Rank is commensurate with education and experience.Qualifications:Required:Applications may be considered as follows:Physician Assistants with the following: A minimum of a bachelor?s degree in Physician Assistant Studies (Candidates without a master's degree would be required to obtain a master?s degree in an appropriate field from an accredited institution within three years of hire.) Current NCCPA certification and eligibility for MA licensure A minimum of three years of clinical experience A doctoral degree in a health-related field is preferred. Teaching experience in higher education is preferred.Physicians with the following: Current eligibility or unrestricted MA license as an allopathic or osteopathic physician Certification or eligibility for certification by an ABMS or AOA-approved specialty board A minimum of three years of clinical experience Teaching experience in higher education is preferred.Health profession clinicians with the following: A terminal degree in a relevant discipline If bachelor's degree is not the terminal degree for the profession, the faculty member must obtain the terminal degree within three years of hire.
