Quantitative Research Associate (Part-time Temporary)

Overview: The Quantitative Research Associate will conduct a variety of quantitative research analyses as a member of the Institute for Research on Youth Thriving and Evaluation (RYTE) at Montclair State University in Montclair, NJ, under the supervision of co-Directors Dr. Jennifer Urban & Dr. Miriam Linver (http://www.montclair.edu/ryte-institute/). The Quantitative Research Associate will work on the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) National Character Initiative Project (examining the training of adult volunteers and the character outcomes for youth).
Responsibilities: The Quantitative Research Associate will lead the quantitative research of the project. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Lead quantitative survey analysis, with multiple waves of youth and adult data;
Independently manage data and conduct analyses independently as well as coordinate analyses with a team of quantitative researchers;
Knowledge and experience working with SPSS required. Mplus experience preferred. Some advanced statistical training required, such as Structural Equations Models, Growth Curve Models, Person-Centered Analyses, Multi-Level Modeling, and/or Latent Growth Models.
Write up research findings for presentation at national meetings and in peer-reviewed journals;
Conduct grant writing and report writing for funders and other external audiences;
Performs other duties as assigned. Â
Qualifications: The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual able to work efficiently and productively in a fast-paced research environment. Candidates must have ABD status in their doctoral program in a social science field with a focus on human development, evaluation, or a related field (e.g., psychology, education, sociology, family science), or have completed (or nearly completed) a Masterâ™s degree in quantitative data analysis (or a related field), as determined by the Principal Investigators. Candidates should be able to work independently on project goals, and lead the work of student assistants. Candidates should also have a general knowledge of research methods, qualitative data analysis, and mixed-methods data analysis.Â Candidates must also demonstrate enthusiasm for intellectual rigor and engagement; excellent writing ability and publication pipeline; experience working in a team environment; an ability to work both independently and collaboratively; and excellent interpersonal skills. Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience conducting applied developmental research and/or research on character development programs.
