Under the direction of the Principal Learning Skills Coordinator, the Associate Deans for Students, and the Executive Director for Student Support, the Learning Skills Specialist will enrich student learning by helping students identify performance obstacles and design strategies to improve their learning outcomes. Substantial time will be spent providing assessment of learning, writing individualized learning plans, teaching differentiated mini lessons, reflecting on practice, and using cognitive coaching strategies to help students develop skills as self-regulated learners and employing other research-based learning strategies tailored to meet students? individual needs. The candidate will use a holistic and learner-centered approach to coach students in learning and study skills, time management, test taking, and effectively assist students in the development of appropriate learning skills using sociocultural learning theory as a foundation for learning.
