Hofstra University, a private, nonsectarian, co-educational institution, seeks qualified applicants for an anticipated full-time, tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor faculty position in the Department of Health Professions. The successful candidate will join a large and growing BSCH Program to teach, engage in scholarship and service for committee and department assignments alongside a multi-disciplinary faculty and a diverse student body with a deep commitment to enhancing social justice. Primary responsibilities will be in the BSCH program, with some teaching assignments in the BS in Health Sciences program. Candidates with interest and experience in academic administration and demonstrated leadership and organizational skills may be considered for the supplemental program director appointment.
Hofstraâ€™s BSCH Program prepares students to be scholar-practitioners with have a broad knowledge base in the concepts of wellness, health promotion and disease prevention, as well as in community and public health services and service delivery. Emphasis is also given to developing competencies in the assessment of individual and community health needs and in the planning, implementation and evaluation of community health programs. It is expected that the BSCH program will transition to a BS in Public Health over the next three years and the new faculty candidateâ€™s profile should support this strategic goal.
