This position will be responsible for coordinating a variety of human resources activities with a focus on the following functional areas: compensation, benefits and Georgetown's HRIS system. The incumbent will serve as the in-house expert on the local medical system, providing advice and support in emergency situations as and when appropriate.
As this position is based in Doha, Qatar and offers no relocation assistance, GU-Q is looking only for locally-based candidates who have a valid Qatar residence permit.
Administer the University benefit plans, to include answering employees' inquiries regarding their benefit plans; assisting eligible employees in resolving claims issues and with obtaining a Hamad Health Card;
Educate faculty, staff, and spouses through active and passive programming (e.g. bulletin boards, brochures, websites) on a range of health-related matters, including the insurance options and the public and private health system in Qatar;
Conduct benefits orientation for new employees and assist with their benefits enrolment;
Communicate contractual information and terms and benefits of employment to all employee groups;
Coordinate job analysis and job evaluation process and assist managers with compensation-related matters;
Calculate salary recommendations for new hires, equity adjustments, special payments, etc.;
Coordinate employee's compensation claims and manage requests for leaves of absences;
Participate in salary and labor market surveys to determine local and regional compensation and benefits practices;
Work with supervisor on special projects including: program design, policy development, analysis, budgeting and implementation of new programs;
Oversee website content for responsible functional areas;
Prepare a variety of HRIS and payroll-related forms; run the system reports in response to regular and ad-hoc requests for data;
Serve as back-up to Payroll and Tax Manager, and Employment Manager for specific activities performed in Georgetown's HRIS system;
Liaise with the main campus Faculty and Staff Benefits Office on various benefits-related issues.
5+ years' human resources experience in a compensation/benefits analyst or HR role, preferably for a large multinational organization;
Knowledge of the practices and procedures involved in developing and implementing HR programs;
Demonstrated ability to exercise confidentiality;
Strong understanding of the health care options (public and private) available in Qatar;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
Strong intercultural and interpersonal skills;
Attention to detail;
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; financial acumen;
Understanding of Middle Eastern customs and norms;
Advanced knowledge and proficiency using MS Office, in particular, MS Excel;
PHR, SPHR, GPHR, SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP or CIPD certification preferred.
