The Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for the assessment and management of complex endocrine patients.
Provide baseline assessment of patients.
Ensure proper documentation (i.e. labs, medications) is entered in electronic medical records.
Receive pre-authorization for endocrine medications, tests, and devices.
Provide comprehensive diabetes care and use insulin pumps for insulin administration.
Will be responsible for administering a weight-loss program which will require a thorough knowledge of nutrition.
Will provide direction to RN support staff to ensure the highest quality of patient care is delivered in a timely fashion in the day-to-day clinical activities.
Other responsibilities as assigned.
Requires a Master's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus one to two years of experience.
Current New York State NP and RN license required as well as NP Board Certification.
Experience working in a busy practice setting preferred.
Previous experience in diabetes education, CDE, or BC-ADM preferred.
Must be familiar with comprehensive diabetes care and the use of insulin pumps for insulin administration.
Excellent clinical, interpersonal, and communication (both written and verbal) skills required. Excellent interpersonal and patient communication skills required.
Participation in the Medical Surveillance program required.
Must successfully complete system training requirements.
