The following responsibilities represent Strategic Planning and Execution.
1) The EA is responsible for providing executive support to the Chair in developing, directing and implementing the strategic and annual operating plans for the department.Â The individual ensures that all relevant information is available to support a collaborative, planning process that involves a thorough business analysis, proposals, plans for new programs, and the design/implementation of changes to existing programs.Â
The following responsibilities represent Financial Responsibilities.
2)The EA ensures that the department receives communication on the operating goals and the allocation of resources through the budgeting process to achieve the objectives.Â The individual will guide the department through budgeting processes and consistently works to achieve a transparent and collaborative relationship with key stakeholders in the organization. The EA oversees and monitors the department budget, supervises the fiscal management of financial resources including financial planning, budgeting, and accounting functions while exercising independent judgment to facilitate the optimal use of division resources.Â The EA understands the complex finances and funds within an academic medical center and will be adept at developing, analyzing and presenting measurements and metrics to track financial trends and make sound financial forecasts.Â The EA provides the fiscal discipline that is required to achieve financial, strategic and mission goals to remain a leading academic institution.
The following responsibilities represent Clinical Practice Management.
3) The EA has overall leadership responsibility for the departmental professional billing and revenue cycle activities.Â The individual works to ensure the policies and processes are applied to clinical services and procedures and billed accurately, in a timely manner and that collections are received promptly and accurately.Â The EA fosters a culture that connects timely and accurate processes to organizational outcomes.Â The EA coordinates with the Revenue Cycle Manager to ensure that billing information and coding are correct, providing accurate reimbursement for services.Â The EA oversees the management reporting systems, provides data and creates a meaningful analysis. The EA partners with the appropriate internal/external departments to provide feedback and education to physicians, residents, fellows, and staff on billing processes and practices to ensure compliance at all local, state, federal and accreditation levels. In partnership with the appropriate parties, the EA develops, reviews and monitors physician productivity reports.Â The individual will do analysis and make recommendations for leadership on clinical productivity and physician billing activities. The EA evaluates practice plans to ensure that rewards are appropriate for goal achievements. The EA works collaboratively with internal and external leadership to ensure smooth, effective and successful ambulatory operations and appropriate clinical programs that serve the mission of the organization.Â The individual works to establish consistent operating processes, manage space assignments, oversee utilization, and performs the appropriate analysis to keep the operations running optimally.
The EA works collaboratively with the Medical Director and Executive Director of the Neurosciences Service Line and hospital leadership to ensure coordination of clinical activities between the Department and hospital for efficient Service Line strategic planning and budgeting.
The following responsibilities represent Human Resource and Development.
4) The EA works with leadership on the departmentâ™s staffing and development for both faculty and staff to ensure that the strategic priorities can be met.Â The individual oversees the recruitment, orientation, on-boarding, and professional development of new faculty and staff.Â The EA cultivates a collaborative, inclusive environment that promotes and fosters teamwork, innovation, curiosity, and problem-solving.Â The EA works to support a safe and ethical environment creating accountability to high organizational standards. The EA engages in team development through transparent communication, coaching, goal setting, mentorship, talent management, and a culture of best practices.Â The EA initiates, reviews and recommends personnel actions including promotions, compensation analysis, performance evaluations, training, and terminations in partnership with internal leadership.Â The EA interviews, selects and evaluates the performance of the staff.Â The individual provides oversight and assistance to the faculty in hiring, including research and administrative personnel.

5) The EA works closely with leadership to achieve the overarching strategic objective of increasing the departmentâ™s research portfolio, focused on extramurally funded research.Â

6)The EA directs and manages clinical, research and administrative space planning for the department.Â The EA oversees the support services necessary to ensure that the operation of the department is not impacted and directs the development space, equipment analysis and maintenance of facilities.Â The individual works with staff to develop and manage capital equipment/asset plans to assure equipment is appropriate as technology and market needs change.Â

7) The EA directs the annual operating plan ensuring that it is executed in a manner consistent with the strategic plan and that the plan is effectively communicated in a tangible and meaningful way throughout the department to achieve objectives.Â The individual is responsible for personnel management, fiscal management, education and training programs, information systems, facilities, administrative support, clinical revenue cycle management, medical staff appointments and reappointments, privileging, clinical training programs including residency and fellowship.Â In partnership, the EA negotiates with internal and external partners to provide support for credentialing reviews and other accrediting agencies to coordinate the management of training programs and related translational research training programs. The EA works with staff to develop and manage capital equipment/asset plans to assure equipment within the department is updated appropriately as technology needs change.Â The individual facilitates the development of education for faculty, residents, fellows, and staff for compliance matters including HIPAA, information security, etc.Â

10) Proficient in mathematical and analytical skills including data sets and data aggregation.

1) Ten years of progressively responsible relevant professional experience in financial planning, management, analysis, forecasting, modeling, or administration.
2) A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience within a complex, healthcare environment.
3) Five years of progressively responsible talent management experience in coaching, communication, recruiting, hiring, and performance management. 4) Directly related financial and budget development experience in a complex environment. 5) Experience working in a fiscally responsible, highly regulated business setting that regularly employs benchmarking. 6) Experience using Electronic Medical Records Systems, Enterprise Resource Systems, and Medical Group Practice Billing and Financial Management Systems. 7) Significant experience within an academic health sciences environment. 8) Knowledge of research funding and appreciation for working in a research-intensive academic culture.
