Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Communications & Dispatch Supervisor for IPO- Public Safety. This position reports to the Director of Public Safety Communications and is responsible for supervising the day to day operations of the University’s Shared Services Public Safety Communications Center. Primarily, the position services to organize and supervise the work of public safety telecommunicators and other personnel engaged in computer-aided dispatch for police, fire, and other services on a 24-hour basis.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Maintains records and demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes,work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
Schedules organizational component personnel to ensure adequate staffing is maintained to provide for uninterupted 24/7 coverage for the functional area including enhanced staffing during critical incidents and planned special events occurring within the service area, subject to second level approval.
Conducts regular quality assurance reviews of completed calls for services.
Provides direct, on the floor, supervision of assigned personnel to provide guidance relative to the proper handling of calls for service.
Responsible for proper validation and maintenance of SCIC / NCIC records.
Ensures that all participating agency personnel are in strict compliance with the Validation Policy and Procedure Guide.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Requires a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or related field, Or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
A minimum of two (2) years of 9-1-1 telecommunications experience in a moderately busy shared services call center.
Must be certified in Basic Tele communicator Officer; Emergency Medical Dispatch (MDC) and BCO & EMD Instructor.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must be well organized and have strong multitasking skills
Strong communication skills
Ability to work as part of a team and independently
Experience within a college or university setting a plus.
Knowledge of Rutgers University, including policies and procedures is a plus.
Prefers at least five (5) years of 9-1-1 telecommunications experience in a moderately busy shared services call center.
