The Division of Digestive & Liver Diseases at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is looking for a Postdoctoral Scientist to join a hepatology research laboratory. The laboratory studies the molecular mechanisms of various liver diseases: alcoholic and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, liver fibrosis, and liver cancer. Additionally, laboratory investigates the growth of metastatic liver tumors and the gut microbiome as it relates to nonalcoholic fatty liver disease.
Working independently but in close cooperation and in consultation with the principal investigator and other Research Scientists, the Postdoctoral Scientist will conduct experiments in various ongoing projects. The Postdoctoral Scientist will perform laboratory tasks that include, routine and complex laboratory procedures and experiments throughout the training period. Develops, adapts, and implements new research techniques and protocols. Analyze and interprets data. May assist in preparation of grant proposals. Participates in publications and presentations as author or co-author. This position is not responsible for generating grant funds.

Designs and performs experiments. Will keep appropriate experimental records and documentation and analyze the results with the Principal Investigator.

Operates and maintains laboratory equipment and instruments.

DEPARTMENT AND/OR UNIT SPECIFIC - ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform research activities involving live animals (mice).
Isolation of different hepatic cell populations and intracellular signaling of hepatic stellate cells, plasmacytoid dendritic cells, liver macrophages, and hepatocytes.
Will perform routine cellular, micro- and molecular biology procedures including, but not limited to Western blot, DNA/RNA/protein extraction, genotyping PCR, real time PCR, cell culture, transfection of plasmids, Immunohistochemistry, and staining.
Assist with the maintenance and perform genotyping by PCR of mouse colonies.
Participate and train in various surgical procedures and non-surgical procedures.
