Position Summary: Under the direction of the Director of Post-Award Administration, the closeout specialist is a non-supervisory position in which the incumbent provides a wide range of services to assist in New Jersey Institute of Technology’s research mission. The closeout specialist will assist with the oversight and administration of awards and financial and administrative closeout actions associated with sponsored awards. The specialist will be responsible for collaborating with other Office staff in developing, maintaining and executing various processes related to award management and administration. This may include contributing to processes related to grant-funded personnel requisitions, account reconciliation, budget analysis, invoicing, financial reporting, and sponsor closeout.
Prerequisite Qualifications: Bachelor's degree is required. Three years' experience required. Some experience with grant and contract administration at an institute of higher education is required. Successful candidates must be able to demonstrate and commit to continuously learning and possessing knowledge of federal and state contracting regulations as they pertain to acquisition of grants and contracts. Must be able to meet and deal effectively with all constituencies, including personnel from funding agencies as well as faculty and administrative personnel throughout the university community. Should possess experience with and knowledge of computer systems and software applications related to university research administration; experience with Banner and/or a research information management system such as Streamlyne is highly desirable. At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be excepted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
