The College: The B. Thomas Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences is the largest of RITs nine colleges, and has an enrollment of over 3100 undergraduate students and 850 graduate students. The college, with over 140 faculty members, is housed in a modern facility equipped with numerous teaching and research laboratories. The college is home to the departments of Computer Science, Computing Security, Information Sciences and Technologies, Software Engineering, the School of Interactive Games and Media and a college-wide PhD program, providing many opportunities for cooperation and research collaboration within and beyond the college.
The School:The School of Information (iSchool) is one of six administrative units within the College of Computing and Information Sciences, and oversees academic and curricula development for both undergraduate, and graduate students, pursuing degrees in three undergraduate BS programs, three graduate programs, and two advanced certificate programs. The iSchool provides leadership, administrative, financial, and logistical support to more than 700 undergraduate and graduate students with 30 faculty and 6 staff in Rochester, and also provides support of the Schools degrees at RITs global campuses in Croatia and UAE. The School demonstrates the universitys commitment to the teacher-scholar model; it is among the university leaders in terms of grant generation and publications and the faculty consists of several teaching award winners and professional service leaders, including ACM president, and ACM SIG chairs. The School is also home to several labs and research centers and plays a particularly large research and delivery role in the universitys Computing for All efforts.
Detailed Job Description
Under general supervision of the iSchool Office Manager, assists in the coordination, communication, and implementation of outreach, events, and the iSchool student. Reponsible for coordinating with department faculty, staff, students, and other institutional resources regarding such issues, and carrying out solutions aimed at increasing student retention and satisfaction. In particular, this position is responsible for:
Student Extracurricular Activity Support
Department Marketing and Communications
For iSchool (US and Abroad) and under the general supervision of the iSchool Office Manager, work with chair(s) to carry out a communication plan that leverages social media with an aim toward recruiting new students, publicizing student and faculty achievements, and assisting in the development of a departmental digital community.
Serve as the social media voice of the department by directly engaging in and promoting social interaction including coordinating with Global Campuses.
Process and coordinate all large-scale Department communications including mass-mailings, digital display, updates and dissemination of Department brochures, special reports and communications projects, and final internal review of all material developed for larger RIT communications.
Working with other iSchool office staff, prepare communication plans and materials in support of the iSchool service courses.
In coordination with the College Events and Communications Manager and the iSchool Office Manager, draft materials for approval and coordinate events for K-12 outreach activities. Act as Liaison to related GCCIS and Institute programs such as Women-in-Computing, Project Lead the Way, and Kids on Campus.
Assist the office manager in facilitating events and activities related to student outreach and student experience. Assist the office manager in coordinating events such as RIT Open Houses, scheduled and unscheduled tours, community outreach, and other such activities. Assist in the preparation and presentation of content for prospective students and their families. Coordinate with student groups and organizations to determine possible synergistic event plans. Coordinate outreach activities with GCCIS dean's office and Global Campuses.
Assist with event planning for the webinars, seminars, and similar functions of the iSchool Extension.
Student Support and Outreach
Serve as the advisor to the iSchool Student Ambassadors Program. Assist with student recruitment, training and scheduling.
Assist with department-level alumni engagement in coordination with GCCIS and Institute Development and Institute Alumni relations.
Support the department chair and academic advisors with regard to study abroad opportunities for students.

Required Minimum Qualifications
3-5 years of related experience
Experience with electronic communication and social media including Facebook, Twitter, wikis, blogs, web content management systems, and other related technologies.
Event planning and outreach opportunities.
Ability to network.

Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Intermediate to advanced computer skills.
