Job Description Summary: The Course Developer is a member of the Creative Design Services team led by the Manager, Course Development and Instructional Design. This team includes multiple Course Media Developers, with various specializations, and Instructional Designers.
The Creative Design Services team is responsible for designing and delivering the highest quality online course content possible and helping to promote Webster University's online and military programs.
As a member of this team, the Course Developer will schedule, plan, direct, shoot, edit, and publish high quality and creative video and audio. This individual will also assist with the building of, and build, animated video using technologies such as Adobe Spark, Camtasia, PowerPoint, etc. Work will focus on Webster's online course content and promotion of Webster's online and military programs.
This position is also responsible for managing the video delivery platform and ensuring that video is properly embedded into course content, social media, and various websites by embedding videos into those delivery platforms.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelors degree in film, photography, videography, design, or equivalent experience. Familiarity with HTML and CSS. Ability to manage both long-term and short-term projects. Ability to work in both cross-functional teams and resourcefully and independently. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to communicate with non-technical personnel, respond to questions and interpret technical information clearly and effectively; and to provide support to clients with varied computer skills. A high degree of personal accountability. Passion for continued learning with a demonstrated track record of learning new technologies and skills.
Preferred Qualifications Two years of professional production experience. Experience in directing and shooting field videography and studio with DSLR cameras and other video rigs. Experience with location and studio audio recording via boom and lavalier microphones. Two years experience editing video with Adobe Creative Suite, specificially Premiere Pro, After Effects, Illustrator, and Photoshop. Experience with posting and archiving video for web and social media distribution. Experience with post-production graphics and green screen technology and methodologies. Familiarity with HTML and CSS. Experience with a variety of software applications including various browsers, mail clients, MS Office, Adobe software packages, etc.
Essential Duties Plan, schedule, direct, shoot, edit and publish video for university online courses, recruitment, training, and promotion of Webster Universitys Online and Military programs. Collaborating with constituents across the university, including faculty and staff, to create high-quality video content for both internal and external use. Working collaboratively in cross-functional design sprints, providing expertise to multiple projects and working groups. Producing and mixing audio Working collaboratively with a graphic designer to design graphics for use in video animation. Managing video delivery platform. Troubleshoot video delivery issues Transcode video to streamable formats for online delivery Other duties as assigned in connection with online course and training needs. Continually improve processes, services, and design.
