Applies advanced statistical and technical skills in the design for research studies. Collects, complies, and analyzes statistical data. Performs complex statistical analyses for a broad spectrum of data and studies. Reviews Programs written by other statisticians and verifies statistical output and results. Oversees programming and database handling to assure high quality data collection. Explains complex statistical concepts and produces written interim and final project reports. Writes and reviews statistical and outcome sections of project reports and submissions. Assesses feasibility of analysis requests and associated time lines. Evaluates research studies and recommends statistical plans. Delegates and verifies work of junior statisticians. Helps new statisticians get familiar with procedures and programming environment. Teaches statistics as part of the KIRSO Education Program.

A doctoral degree in biostatistics, epidemiology, or outcomes research is required.
A demonstrated track record as the principal investigator of methodological research supported by extramural grant funding is required. There is a rich mix of ongoing biomedical research projects in the Kirklin Institute for Research in Surgical Outcomes to provide motivation and opportunities for the development of novel statistical methods on wide ranging topics.
