F.D. Bluford Library at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (NC A&T) invites applications for the position of Assistant Dean of Library Services. Reporting to the Dean of Library Services, the incumbent will lead a talented team of librarians and staff in converting aspirations for library services into reality. The Assistant Dean is responsible for strategic visioning, policy formulation, resource allocation, oversight of daily operations, personnel, marketing of services and programs, and excellence in departments that comprise: Access Services; Collections; Research, Instructional and Engagement Services; Systems; and Bibliographic, Metadata and Discovery Services.
As appropriate, the Assistant Dean represents the library on campus and at community activities and when asked by the Dean or in absence of the Dean. Candidates should demonstrate expertise in leadership, a dedication to service and the ability to foster collaboration among stakeholders.
Additional responsibilities include:
Setting priorities, ensuring progress toward achieving goals, and driving continuous improvement in services.
Providing leadership to the implementation of the library's strategic plan.
Preparing reports to inform decision-making, using statistics and data related to the library's initiatives and activities.
Engaging in scholarly activities and providing service to the university, the community, and the profession.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit:
Library Services supports and advances teaching, learning and research at N.C. A&T through user-focused services, technologies, and physical and virtual learning spaces. We ensure individuals have access to globally trusted information resources that equip them with the knowledge to provide solutions to society's challenges.
The library serves nearly 12,000 students, over 650 faculty, and the residents of the Piedmont Triad region. The library is a select depository for federal and state publications. Open 24-hours a day, library users have access to over a million print and electronic resources, technology-enhanced group study rooms, over 200 computer workstations, wireless access throughout the building, mobile Internet devices, and archives that document the history of the University and the region.

-ALA-accredited master's degree in library or information science. -Five years of progressively responsible work experience in academic libraries, which includes a minimum of three years supervising the work of others. -Demonstrated ability to supervise and direct multiple units in an academic library environment. -Proven ability to work collegially with faculty, staff, and students. -Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to foster an environment of collegiality, respect, trust, and collaboration. -Proven ability to translate strategies into actionable plans. -Knowledge of current issues and trends affecting academic research libraries. -Experience with assessment methods that demonstrate value of libraries to the institutional mission. -Demonstrated success in outreach to faculty, students, the university community, and related stakeholders -Interest in working with donors and fundraising. -Record of accomplishment suitable for appointment at the Associate Professor rank or higher.
