UNC Global Women’s Health (GWH) is a unique group of clinicians, researchers and public health professionals working to improve the health of women and children in the world’s poorest countries. Driven by outcomes and intensely practical, the majority of our diverse staff live overseas. GWH is based in Chapel Hill, NC as a division of the UNC Department of OB-GYN.
We are seeking a Research Data Programmer to support two projects: 1.A large ultrasound dataset, including scans and associated biometry and clinical information, developed with the objective of creating algorithms for new portable ultrasounds, appropriate for low-resource settings.
2.A 15,000 participant observational cohort study to document the course and outcomes of labor, delivery and the immediate postpartum period in settings where adverse birth outcomes are high (currently 4 sites: 2 in India, 1 in Zambia and 1 in Ghana; more sites may be added over time). The resulting high-quality, granular and generalizable data will be used to develop new tools to reduce intrapartum morbidity and mortality in low-resource settings. The Research Data Programmer will be responsible for managing and combining datasets from disparate data sources; and monitoring and maintaining high quality data for scientific analysis and academic research.
Education and Experience:
-Experience with databases available in an academic environment. -Familiarity with good clinical practices and protection of human subjects. -Demonstrated ability to work independently, to discern appropriate (and shifting) priorities and to organize workload efficiently. -Good interpersonal communication and writing skills. -Highly Preferred: Experience coding data checks and/or building datasets in Stata, SAS, R or a similar coding language.
