The Human Resources Consultant serves as an HR Generalist who provides technical expertise and customer consultation in the following functions: Employment and Staffing, Classification and Compensation, and Employee Relations. The Human Resources Consultant serves as a customer service provider for staff, faculty, residents, and students, and will be responsible for managing programs/projects for a variety of ASOD HR initiatives. As a member of the ASOD HR team, the HR Consultant is responsible for processing various human resources actions for permanent SHRA and EHRA employees. Duties include initiating both complex and basic personnel actions; facilitating recruitment and hiring processes; reporting and conducting trend analysis; providing HR guidance, and interpretation and application.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and two years of progressively responsible professional human resources management experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be from appropriately accredited institutions.
This position requires the ability to establish and maintain a collaborative working relationship with customers; a thorough knowledge of Federal, State, University, and School regulations, policies, and procedures; and the ability to analyze HR issues and develop HR solutions that meet customer's needs and are consistent with regulatory requirements. The successful candidate must have experience in consulting with customers on employee relations, and classification and compensation. The successful candidate must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, sound business judgment, a high level of detail and organization, professionalism, diplomacy, and the ability to interact with personnel at all levels of the School and University.
Three or more years of professional-level human resources experience in an environment of similar scope to the UNC Adams School of Dentistry. Experience in client consultation and some combination of the following human resources functions: Benefits Administration; Classification and Compensation; Employee Relations; Employment and Staffing; Faculty Appointments, Promotion, and Tenure. Experience using ConnectCarolina as a complex user.
