Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Mental Health Clinician III for the New Brunswick Outpatient Services- Clinica Latina Program at Rutgers, University Behavioral Health Care.
The Mental Health Clinician III, provides culturally competent, Spanish language outpatient clinical services that meet the needs of the local Spanish speaking community. Participates in the assessment of clinical needs of children, adolescents and adults. Provides focused skill acquisition and symptom management using evidence based group, individual, and family therapy for mental health and co-occurring chemical dependency.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Provides assessments with empathy and concern for clients and arrives at accurate DSM IV-TR multi-axial diagnoses by the end of the evaluation session and updates when new information and clinical status warrant.
Demonstrates the ability to assess co-occurring substance abuse/dependence disorders and to formulate and implement appropriate outpatient interventions.
Demonstrates ability to engage clients and families, assess mutual readiness for change, and motivate them toward appropriate services.
Collaborates effectively with other staff members, referral sources and social support networks to provide treatment and care for clients and families.
Maintains clinical documentation standards as mandated by UBHC policy and other applicable accreditation and certification entities.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Master's Degree in a mental health or related discipline and a New Jersey license as required by discipline.
Applicants possessing a degree in Social Work must have an active New Jersey certification/licensure as required by the State Board of Social Work.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Competency in treating children, adolescents, adults and families.
Ability to assess level of care needs and provide outpatient group therapy treatment.
Ability to implement Universal Precautions and Safety Precautions.
Bilingual skills (Spanish/English).
Ability to speak clearly and write proficiently in English and Spanish.
Works at least (1) evening per week.
