Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Edit/Media Specialist I for the University Finance and Administration Project Management Office (PMO). This position focuses on web development, social media, and communications for the University Finance and Administration division, including a heavy focus on administrative and student information projects. This position needs to balance communications and web developing duties effectively, as the position demands writing of marketing materials, managing social media conducting/planning events, and acting as a liaison between UFA and the university community.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Oversees the redesign and development of the University Finance and Administration (UFA) suite of sites, including project-related sites, to improve how we meet the information and transactional needs of internal and external customers.
Determines website(s) architectural organization and design, and is responsible for development and maintenance of website(s).
Works collaboratively with University Finance and Administration departments, and internal partners.
Creates paths between traditional and new media, and tracks and reports on relevant analytics.
Leads the content strategy and content management for the University Finance and Administration intranet.
Develops and manages a social media program for UFA departments and/or initiatives, as appropriate.
Keeps abreast of new technologies and makes recommendations for improvements in related messaging and core business processes.
Promotes a positive and cohesive message for UFA constituency.
Assists in writing and editing UFA marketing materials.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience in project management, web design and web architecture, and multi-media production.
A minimum of two (2) years' professional experience in communications, marketing, public relations or related field
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must be able to assume responsibility for creating a concept, or contributing to ideas that lead to a concept, from start to finish utilizing the tools, software, and hardware to create the design material needed for the initiative, and finally, managing the status production, print, vendor interaction and purchase orders, or web distribution.
Familiarity the university’s web content management systems, Drupal and WordPress.
Demonstrated knowledge of developing and maintaining website content.
Knowledge and ability to apply AP, MLA, and other editorial style guides.
Experience with a wide range of industry standard hardware and software, including working in a PC environment; thorough knowledge of MS Office Suite; specialized graphics software; and a strong command of the Adobe Suite.
Creativity, flexibility, and the ability to communicate and work effectively and efficiently with diverse groups within the University (administrators, faculty, staff, and students).
Self-motivated go-getter with a positive attitude required.
