UC San Diego Health's occupational and environmental medicine services delivers customized clinical solutions for workplace health, with an expertise that distinguishes San Diego's only academic medical center. Our care team includes all board-certified occupational medicine specialists who bring the best evidence-based care to employees around San Diego – to prevent injury, protect wellness and help injured workers regain function while returning to work as soon as possible.
Under the supervision of the Call Center Management, the Patient Service Representative is responsible for customer service, registration, appointment scheduling, and insurance verification. Answers multi-line telephones, coordinates and schedules ancillary appointments, screens patients for immunity requirements. Screens patients for correct insurance information and sponsorship.
Secures patient account by obtaining authorization from employers and WC insurance companies prior to patient appointments. Provides back-up registration functions. Prepares patient charts; obtains and matches diagnostic data (labs/x-rays/MRI's) and provide to clinicians. Enters patient data into proprietary computer system. Serves as a resource for patients, clinicians and staff. Functions as expert/key user for department as a liaison between clinical and administrative operations. Inventories and maintains supplies, forms and equipment.
A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience.
Previous multi-phone line experience in a large complex healthcare setting.
Excellent communication skills are required.
Skills, knowledge, and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
Knowledge of Workers Compensation
Epic Cadence experience/Systoc experience
Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
