Rappahannock Community College, a two-campus institution serving a rural 12-county area in the Chesapeake Bay region of Virginia, seeks applicants for the following faculty-ranked teaching position in Biology (F0009) who possess graduate course work in human biology or anatomy and physiology. This position is a nine-month appointment with an excellent benefits package; salary commensurate with education and experience. Immediate appointment. The College desires candidates with a commitment to the community college mission and experience working with a diverse student population, including adult learners, dual enrollment students, and at-risk students. The successful candidate will be committed to academic excellence, continuous improvement, and willingness to create and participate in a collegial environment of civility, collaboration and open communication. The college strives for a faculty of content experts who are also knowledgeable about best practices, innovative strategies, and all instructional technologies that support teaching and learning. Outreach and service to the college community is expected, along with the ability to teach 15 credits per semester. Finalists will be asked to perform a teaching demonstration. Duties and responsibilities primarily include teaching courses in General Biology and Human Anatomy and Physiology and possibly microbiology. Other duties will include, but are not limited to, facilitating student learning through in class and out of class activities, maintaining up to date knowledge in the discipline, learning and utilizing best practices and innovations in science education at the college level, and learning and utilizing state of the art instruction through a variety of delivery systems including interactive video, web, and other electronic media. Teaching faculty serve as advisors, adopt textbooks, create course syllabi, develop new courses, mentor part-time and dual enrollment faculty, and participate in college governance committees. Teaching assignments and schedule may include day and evening assignments, cross-campus or off-campus assignments.
