Michigan State University’s Eli Broad College of Business, Department of Supply Chain Management, has an opening for a full-time fixed-term academic specialist to coordinate with program managers for two department programs. The individual will split time between the department’s Corporate and Student Relations (CSR) office and the Master of Science in Supply Chain Management (MSSCM) degree program.
Overall program outreach duties will include attending conferences and other outside events to promote the department and programs. Managing marketing activities, the department webpage and other social media, engage with the professional supply chain community, disseminating information on academic research and department activities of external stakeholders, and maintain alumni/professional contact database and communication for outreach purposes.
Support duties specific to CSR will include assisting the director in managing activities associated with the Supply Chain Council, including membership and finance management, planning and participating in council activities/meetings and company visits, assisting in advising the Supply Chain Management Association student organization with respect to outreach opportunities. Activities and other job duties will include, but are not limited to, engagement with industry to support career fairs, mock interviews, graduation events, and other corporate-student interaction (e.g., case competition, recruiting support).
MSSCM degree program support duties include assisting with: the admissions process, including records preparation and maintenance; advising students on course options/academic matters; and program management related to enrollments, retention, academic monitoring, student communications, and curricula planning/scheduling. Other activities include, but are not limited to, event planning for graduation and onsite/online course activities, and report development and submissions, including accreditation, program metrics, and college/university requests.
Bachelors -business preferred
The position requires a bachelor’s degree, preferably in business, experience in program management or supply chain related field, excellent computer skills, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe, and Photoshop, and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
The ideal candidate would be a self-starter, detail oriented, willing and able to pitch in when needed, and have at least three years’ experience in program management. Having a background in supply chain management and willingness to work a flexible schedule are highly desirable. A Master’s degree is also desirable.
