The University of Maryland School of Social Work has an opening for an Instructional Technologist (IT) to join the Instructional Design E-Learning & Assessment (IDEA) Team. The IT will work closely with the team and under the supervision of the Assistant Dean, Instructional Design and Technology, to support faculty, student and staff use of instructional technology (specifically for Blackboard) and for instructional design of online/hybrid courses. The IT will use, create training and documentation for, and support a wide range of hardware and software tools for educational technology, multimedia, course design, assessment, data tracking/analysis/reporting and evaluation. In addition, the IT provides support for faculty to advance and improve their skills in the use of instructional technologies.

Independently provide instructional technology and Learning Management System support to faculty, staff and students.
Facilitate creation of media, presentations, training materials, tutorials and course design for hybrid and online courses.
Plan and deliver formal presentations, resources and workshops for the use of specific technology and/or e-learning applications such as Blackboard.
Maintain on-going support and routine tasks for the Learning Management System (Blackboard) and other instructional technology systems.
Assist with support for systems related to assessment and/or course evaluation.
Research and evaluate instructional technology resources and their effectiveness for the acquisition and implementation of new instructional technologies by using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
Collaborate with Campus Information Technology Service, faculty, and field instructors in regards to the school's needs.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology or related field. Preferred Education: Master degree in Instructional Technology/Design Experience: Two (2) years of instructional design or IT education/training Preferred Experience: Prior experience supporting Blackboard Learn, Webex, Voicethread and other current instructional technologies and with audio/visual (multimedia and video production). Other: May consider a combination of directly related experience and education.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Detail-oriented end user support experience and excellent troubleshooting skills
Familiarity and ability to create materials the comply with accessibility, ADA, Section 508, Universal Design for Learning, Quality Matters and other related standards.
The Hiring Range for this position is low to high $50,000s, commensurate with education and experience.
