The Brown University Division of Advancement seeks qualified applicants for the position of Associate Director, Alumni Events and Reunion Programs.
The Associate Director of Alumni Events and Reunion Programs is responsible for the comprehensive project management, planning, and execution of alumni events and reunion programming that support alumni engagement and the priorities of the University, Office of Alumni Relations, and the Brown Alumni Association. The Associate Director will work closely with the team leader, leaders of the alumni engagement team and in collaboration with colleagues across the Department and Division to ensure that the Departmentâ™s goal of meaningful alumni engagement is met.
This position provides leadership and direction for the conceptualization and management of strategic efforts to maximize Reunion program opportunities for all alumni. They ensure the programs and events maximize impact to achieve the desired results while enriching relationships with key audiences. This position is responsible for the oversight and management of the Reunion Program portfolio of more than 150 events, as well as Alumni Fall Weekend events, affinity events, selected on-campus events, large-scale one-time events, and selected Brown Alumni Association on-campus programs. The Associate Director also builds, manages and maintains relationships with key University stakeholders and partners, both internal and external; they also partner with Advancement staff with a focus on class, affinity, career, and volunteer engagement.

They must be extremely detail-oriented while always keeping an eye toward the larger strategic goals of each event and demonstrate commitment to maintain the highest standards.
Bachelorâ™s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, knowledge of Brown University and/or experience in a higher education a plus. Must have 7 years of directly relevant experience (event planning and management, project management, etc.) with progressive responsibility.

This position requires an enthusiastic, positive, can-do attitude with a creative and innovative approach to events. They should be a good listener, interpreter, courteous, diplomatic and discreet. They should have a desire to exceed expectations and wow the audience. Strong relationship builder. Not flustered by last minute changes, tight deadlines, or high-pressure situations.
Must have a proven record of being detail-oriented, self-starter with a demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and priorities to meet aggressive timelines, and challenging deadlines.
Superior organizational and planning skills with the ability to initiate, collaborate, implement, monitor, and evaluate and analyze event programs and services.
Must have ability to remain calm under pressure and during times of extremely high work volume, which is most often a seasonal occurrence.
Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to successfully interact and collaborate with varied constituencies in a professional manner, exhibiting excellent written and oral communication skills, and demonstrating tact, poise and diplomacy while working with a wide variety of personalities. And, proven strong negotiating skills.
Strong knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google suite of tools, experience with web and email technology, experience using databases, ability to learn new technology quickly.
Ability to present effectively to small and large groups.
Must be able and willing to work occasional evenings and weekends.
