DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION INCLUDE:
The primary area of responsibility will be classroom teaching and curriculum development which includes Job Search Skills, Career Resources, Employment Issues, ADA and the Law, Job Training and Internship, Personal Development and other vocational and educational classes for students with disabilities. Interface with local career and workforce agencies. Assess and evaluate students' eligibility into the program. Work with students to develop appropriate educational goals and evaluate students' eligibility into the program. Work with students to develop appropriate educational goals and evaluate student progress. Act as a liaison between the program/ division and community agencies. Assign and supervise work of instructional aides. Perform duties such as student recruitment, student advisement and student selection as well as other routine tasks required to insure smooth operation of the program.
Standard duties expected of all faculty include development and evaluation of curricula, maintaining scheduled office hours, attending department and division meetings, pursuing professional growth activities, and performing other duties consistent with the role of an instructor. Instructors also have the opportunity to serve on district and college committees and participate in campus extra-curricular activities.
Understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, disability, and sexual orientation of community college students, faculty and staff.
Master's, or equivalent foreign degree, in the category of disability, special education, education, psychology, educational psychology or rehabilitation counseling; AND 15 semester units of upper division or graduate study in deaf and hearing impaired.
Two (2) years teaching experience in an educational or vocation setting with persons with disabilities including but not limited to Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, Developmental Delays (NOS), Learning Disabilities, emotional and behavioral disabilities etc.
Experience working with assistive technology such as text-to-speech, screen readers and voice recognition.
Knowledgeable in the use and implementation of universal design in the classroom
Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work in a team environment.
Experience writing and developing curriculum for students with disabilities in the areas of Job Search Skills, Career Resources, Employment Issues, ADA and the Law, Job Training and Internship, Personal Development and other vocational and educational classes.

HIRING RANGE: $62,772.00 - $103,094.00 annually plus benefits; actual placement is based on applicant's verified education and experience.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full-time, Temporary, Non Tenure-track, 11-months per year
