The Department of Political Science and Public Administration at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in International Relations and/or Comparative Politics, starting August 2020. While the search is open to all subfields, we are particularly interested in candidates who specialize in the area of human rights. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Political Science or related field (or completed Ph.D. in-hand by August 2020), a promising research agenda, a commitment to quality instruction, and a capacity to work collaboratively to achieve the department's vision and strategic goals.
The Department offers a B.A. in Political Science as well as a NASPAA-accredited Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree, and plays a key role in servicing and developing programs in International Studies, Pre-Law, Women's and Gender Studies, and Human Rights. Currently the department has approximately 95 Political Science and 70 International Studies undergraduate majors, 80 Public Administration graduate students, and 11 full-time faculty members, with anticipated growth in the next few years.
