Provide skilled purchasing knowledge and tact when dealing with departments and outside vendors for the purpose of obtaining goods and services. Responsible for independently determining the disposition of routine procurement problems, and referring to a superior on non-routine problems.
Determine best value for contract awards. Work with Accounts Payable, Receiving and vendors to resolve problems. Perform data entry into PeopleSoft financial system to amend and adjust data entered by campus users. Write specifications for, and prepare, Invitation for Bids. Perform data entry into State of Texas Purchasing on-line system. Expedite Delinquent Orders. Visit with representatives from manufacturing and commercial firms. Performs other duties as assigned.
High school graduation. Two (2) years of purchasing experience. Must have current certification from a State of Texas approved professional purchasing organization, or obtain within eighteen (18) months of hire date.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Previous experience in developing scopes of work and complex procurement solicitation documents. PeopleSoft/E-Procurement experience. Strong time management and planning to coordinate and prioritize multiple simultaneous purchasing for various university departments. Ability to analyze information, situations, problems, policies and procedures to suggest logical, ethical and effective decisions or solutions to problems.
