Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Assistant Director, Shared Resources for the Administration and Planning Department at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey.
The primary purpose of the Assistant Director, Shared Resources (AsstDirSR) position is to, under the direction of the Associate Director, Shared Resources, provide scientific and operational oversight for the shared resources of the NIH/NCI Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG) and other cancer center supported shared resources. The AsstDirSR works with the shared resource Directors/Managers to manage shared resource laboratory practices and to provide oversight to ensure they deliver novel technology and high-impact services in a cost effective and efficient manner, in compliance with NCI Guidelines.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Provide ongoing scientific technological evaluation of the services provided by the Shared Resources; ensure that the appropriate services are provided in a cost-effective manner; and assess adoption of new technologies.
Serve as an expert on current NCICCSG Guidelines as well as Institutional and Rutgers Cancer Institute policies as they pertain to Programs and Shared Resources.
Understands CCSG criteria for a successful shared resource, including use by cancer focused, peer-reviewed funded members, cancer focused publications, peer-reviewed cancer-focused grants obtained or supported.
Maintain current and thorough knowledge of the science supported by each of the shared resources.
Participate in/assist with regular business meetings with shared resource directors to review member usage, satisfaction, operations, and overall performance.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Must have a minimum of five (5) years of research experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Highly organized individual with the ability to multi-task, work independently, and take initiative with starting and completing projects.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Doctorate Degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, or cell biology.
During grant preparation and site visit preparation phases, overtime will be required.
