Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Program Coordinator I for SAS- Computer Science. This position provides support to Faculty and departmental administrators, and students regarding PhD graduate studies. This position does reply to ALL inquiries and requests related to the PhD graduate program and, if necessary, bring matters to attention of the Graduate Program Director and/or the Department Business manager.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Provides support for committees related to PhD graduate studies and serves as the staff liaison between the departments, school administration, and graduate student organizations.
Develops and assists with activities related to attracting and retaining students.
Processes the TA/GA/Fellow appointments as needed including all HR system updates (SAS Deans office and University); updating charging instructions; handling any related visa issues including extensions.
Serves as point person and information source for all University and departmental policies and procedures relevant to graduate education.
Interprets, implements, and ensures compliance with policies and regulations and recommends changes to procedures and processes.
Manages special projects and publicity for the graduate program including coordination with the Corporate Engagement staff.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
A minimum of two (2) years administrative experience in a university setting.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Good communication skills, both written and oral
Good organizational skills
Strong computer skills: database management, knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing software.
Ability to work with students, staff and faculty with diverse backgrounds
Ability to handle and maintain sensitive and confidential information
Knowledge of Microsoft office – all related programs, email, Adobe, University systems-Cornerstone, HCM, SAS Hiring Systems.
Microsoft office – all related programs, PC and tablet, Adobe, able to use web resources efficiently, email, ability to adapt to new programs quickly.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
This position requires a high level of tact because it is dealing with a wide variety of individuals of many cultures and religions.
Ensures confidential information remains confidential
Must be comfortable working on multiple projects and priorities and should function well in a team environment.
Must demonstrate patience and be able to communicate effectively especially with a large international student population some with limited English skills.
