Brand Strategy Director University Marketing, The Ohio State University
University Marketing is seeking a disciplined strategic marketing leader to fill a key role on our Marketing Strategy team. The selected candidate will act as a brand champion and steward for The Ohio State University within University Marketing and the broader marketing community, bringing to life audience-centric strategies, marketing plans and integrated brand experiences that drive awareness, engagement and choice with key audiences. The Brand Strategy Director reports to the Senior Director, Brand Strategy & Enterprise Marketing for The Ohio State University and provides strategic consultation and guides the development and implementation of strategic marketing plans for initiatives and efforts across the enterprise and/or within University Marketing or units. Working in partnership with the Brand Experience team, the Brand Strategy Director will define and develop enterprise brand marketing strategies and plans that result in compelling and resonant user experiences, employing an audience-centric, data-driven, disciplined approach. The ideal candidate will be competent as:
A strategic thinker with experience in setting strategic vision, as well as identifying and translating insights into sound marketing strategies that enable the development of integrated plans in support of organizational goals
A disciplined marketer with distinctive analytical skills, creativity, strategic mindset and keen business acumen
A collaborative leader with experience building strong partnerships with internal and external constituents, actively listening and advancing the strategic nature and quality of discussions
An experienced team builder with a proven ability to coach, mentor and develop marketing professionals and colleagues across the broader marketing community
A proactive self-starter who is comfortable with ambiguity and able to progress multiple priorities/projects Together with the Senior Director of Brand Strategy & Enterprise Marketing, the Brand Strategy Director drives strategic vision for bringing to life the Ohio State brand and serves as a marketing thought leader for the broader marketing community. In this role, this individual serves as a catalyst and strategic integrator who both sparks and brings together ideas, individuals and execution to advance key initiatives across the University. This individual is a disciplined marketer and brand-builder with experience in developing brand and marketing strategy and setting vision for integrated marketing execution, including digital marketing, utilizing excellent writing, communication and presentation skills.

Performance Objectives include, but are not limited to:
Develop and apply a deep understanding of key audiences, identifying and translating audience insights and research into individual audience strategies that fuel integrated marketing plans to build brand equity
Craft marketing strategies that enable the development of integrated plans and campaigns for the enterprise brand aligned to organizational goals and objectives, for University Marketing-owned platforms and initiatives and for other assigned projects and partners, which result in compelling and resonant user experiences, working in partnership with the Brand Experience team
Serve as a key brand steward and lead cross-unit initiatives for the enterprise brand on behalf of University Marketing, developing and implementing brand marketing strategies and plans that drive brand equity and value for Ohio State
Build collaborative relationships and provide strategic consultation around brand strategy and marketing with key partners and University Marketing subject matter experts, cultivating peers as brand champions across the university

The selected candidate for this position must have demonstrated success in several areas, including:
Bachelor's degree in marketing, psychology, communications or related field
8 years of experience in a brand management/marketing strategy, account planning and/or research role in an agency, company and/or consulting firm.
5 years of experience developing brand and marketing strategies that enable integrated marketing plans in alignment with organizational goals and objectives
3 years of experience in a brand strategy and/or brand management positon focused on extending a master brand strategy across lines of business in a consultative nature
Experience in brand positioning, segmentation, and messaging development
Desired Qualifications include:
Master's degree in business (marketing, strategy) or a communications-related area
Experience in relationship, client and/or account management
Experience working with and leading teams in a complex, decentralized and/or matrix organization structure
Experience in higher education marketing and knowledge of admissions, alumni relations and/or fundraising marketing is a plus
Target Salary: $85,000.00 - $102,000.00 Annually
