Maintenance Working Foreman (Full-time,12-month AFSCME position)
This position oversee and participate in the upkeep, maintenance and repair of buildings and related structures and/or building utility systems; maintain records of work progress, materials and equipment used, etc.; and perform related work as required.
TOUR OF DUTY: 6:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m., Monday-Friday* (Saturday/Sunday as days off)
*Initial assignment only. Subject to change according to institutional needs.
LOCATION: Satellite Campuses (New Bedford/Cape Cod)
This is an Essential Position.

This is an AFSCME unit position and is subject to the terms of that union agreement.
1.Oversees and participates in the work of employees engaged in the upkeep, maintenance and repair of buildings and related structures including painting, masonry, woodwork and/or maintaining and repairing building utility systems, including heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration systems using power and small hand tools.
2.Observes progress of work to evaluate workmanship to ensure compliance with established work standards and to report progress to superiors.
3.Reviews work orders, sketches and diagrams to determine material, equipment and personnel necessary to complete required work.
4.Determines the need for maintenances or repair of building structures or the maintenance, repair or replacement of equipment to provide appropriate information to superiors.
5.Maintains records on such matters as work progress, work completed, materials and equipment used, inventories and employees' attendance.
6.Performs related duties such as adjusting heating and/or air conditioning control to maintain appropriate temperature; requisitioning supplies and equipment; reading and interpreting blueprints and sketches; and performing preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and tools.
7.May apply pesticides.
8.Perform related duties such as overseeing and participating in snow removal and ice control work; groundskeeping work including mowing lawns, trimming hedges, raking leaves and grass; and sweeping walks and driveways and removing and disposing of refuse.
9. Carry Nextel/Phone and be available for emergencies.
10. Assist with snow removal operations on any BSU campus.
11. Other related duties as assigned.

9.Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

11.Ability to read and interpret documents such as plans, blueprints, specifications, drawings, job layouts and schematics.

This position is required to carry a Nextel and/or phone to communicate with supervisors/subordinates/vendors, etc. and be available for emergencies.
-Computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, internet, etc.) strongly desired. -Proven ability to work independently.
