The Department of Movement Arts, Health Promotion and Leisure Studies (MAHPLS) offers both undergraduate and graduate programs in the areas of athletic training, health studies and physical education.
At the undergraduate level the department offers a major in physical education which leads to a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree, and majors in Athletic Training, and Health Studies which lead to a Bachelor of Science degree. Minors in coaching, health promotion, recreation exercise physiology, dance and health resources management are also offered.
Graduate study offered by the department includes a program in the area of health promotion, which leads to a Master of Education in Health Promotion; a program in the area of physical education, which leads to a Master of Science in Physical Education; and a program in the area of athletic training which leads to an entry level Master of Science in Athletic Training.
The Department of MAHPLS at Bridgewater State University seeks qualified and committed Part Time Faculty for the Spring 2020 semester, who are enthusiastic teachers and dedicated to working with graduate students.
Specific course offering for which Part Time Faculty are sought:
PHED 578 – Organization and Administration for Professional Tennis Managers. This course focuses on issues in the promotion and administration of tennis facilities, tournaments and organizations. Students will consider foundational marketing and management principles with an emphasis on historical and current application of those principles to issues in the tennis industry. Students will engage with media and current literature related to the tennis industry, with an emphasis on North America Organizational management and the planning, promotion and execution of tennis events (e.g., tournaments) are central topics of this course.
Course will be offered 100% online.
Master’s degree in a related field is required.
Applicants should also possess: - Ability to effectively teach in a close, collegial environment dedicated to the teaching-learning relationship. - Strong commitment to excellence in teaching and to working in a multicultural environment that fosters diversity. - Ability to use technology effectively in teaching and learning. - Provide quality teaching including related preparation and grading. - Provide class syllabi to students enrolled in classes and to the department office as requested. - Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required.
Online teaching* experience is preferred. *Online teaching training is available.
