The Practice Coordinator assists with the coordination of the clinical practice for the Department's Chairman and oversees his day-to-day schedule. The candidate works closely and collaboratively with administration and clinical staff to provide high quality, patient-centered care.
Schedules and coordinates appointments for patients
Answers and triage's patient correspondences received via telephone, email and fax. Responds to inquiries in a timely fashion
Escalates clinical concerns with urgency to the Nurse Coordinator, Nurse Practitioner or Chairman, as appropriate
Responsible for accurately and confidentially, coordinating visits for VIP patients and guests
Acts as a liaison to other departments within the university, hospital, and external institutions
Collaborates with the Revenue Cycle team to ensure insurance credentialing and participation is appropriate for visits, medications and any other diagnostic testing
Coordinates and obtains financial authorization for radiology, laboratory, and procedures
Conforms to all applicable HIPPA and Billing Compliance guidelines
Works closely with the Administrative Coordinator to manage the Chairman's day-to-day schedule, organize events and work on initiatives from the Development office
Performs first level customer service recovery.
Is a patient advocate; ensures patients are treated courteously and concerns are brought to resolution.
Resolves problems independently; investigating problematic situations and discrepancies, provides appropriate follows-up. Promptly reports discrepancies and irregularities to next level of management.
Covers the Administrative Coordinator in times of need
Works on special projects and perform other related duties assigned or requested
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in education plus two years of relevant experience.
Must possess excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal/organizational skills
Must possess excellent customer service recovery skills
Must successfully complete systems training requirements.
Prior experience using EPIC and or IDX
Experience working within academic medicine
