Position summary: The incumbent will supervise care staff caring for USDA species and W8 conventional rodent facility, with effort split between the two facilities. The supervisor will assist the Operations manager and Assistant Director of Operations in managing the Animal Science Center animal core by scheduling and monitoring the personnel and day to day operations of the animal facilities in compliance with federal, state and local regulations and policies. The position will be responsible for the documentation and mitigation of cases of animal welfare concerns, determining which staff require additional training and of what variety to reduce future incidents. As the liaison between ASC husbandry staff and research teams, the supervisor ensures completion of tasks, assigns work, creates schedules and trains new staff on their job. In this role, the incumbent will provide input into policies and procedures related to animal operations, including providing content for SOPs. This position will serve as the backup to the supervisor of the conventional facility when he/she is out of the office.
3+ years prior experience. ALAT certification required. LAT preferred.
