DUTIES: The Department of Library Administration at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Instructional Support Assistant to join the team. The assistant reports directly to the Manager of Audiovisual Services and is primarily responsible for providing technical audiovisual support of the curriculum. The successful candidate will provide secondary support to the Classroom Services Department and is responsible for the daily scheduling of classrooms and other teaching spaces utilizing the Resource Scheduler scheduling system. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: - Complete assignments as directed by Audiovisual Manager. - Monitor lecture sessions and classroom activities to provide necessary support. - Maintain and distribute audiovisual equipment. - Meet and assist instructor prior to start of lectures. - Schedule and conduct demonstrations of audiovisual equipment and functions. - Coordinate and work closely with scheduling office staff. - Prepare and maintain active inventory of audiovisual equipment. - Independently analyze and report condition of audiovisual equipment and usage including assigned room condition. - Assist with room posting of schedule and other pertinent information. - Maintain professional attire and conduct at all times. - Must have advanced knowledge of Windows and Mac computer platforms. - Must know Microsoft Office, Keynote, and other presentation software. - Must be familiar with audiovisual systems functions and applications. - Provide technical support for healthcare simulation exercises. - Must be fluent in English and be able to lift heavy work related materials and equipment. (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE ABOVE POSITION DESCRIPTION) QUALIFICATIONS: - Associate Degree and five (5) years of experience in a higher education setting, working with audiovisual computerized or SMART classroom systems. - Must be detailed oriented and well organized. - Works well with groups/team of people. - Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. - Strong typing skills are essential to this position. - Occasional nights and weekends are required.
